What We Believe
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8
We affirm the three ancient creeds of the Church: The Apostles’ Creed, The Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed.
We believe in the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father is our Creator, Jesus Christ is our Savior and the Holy Spirit brings us a new and more complete life. Therefore, we accept the Holy Scriptures as the divinely inspired record of God’s redemptive acts in Jesus Christ.
We teach that all people are sinners and that a person is saved only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. We define the Church as the fellowship of those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Church is essential to Christian life and growth.
We celebrate the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion as God-given means for penetrating our lives in God’s grace. Our lives are lived in the freedom of Christian love and responsibilities, not according to a formula of do’s and don’ts. We believe that the church, be it a local congregation or the worldwide fellowship of believers, is the body of Christ. As Christ’s body, we are called to worship Him, serve Him, and be the vehicle through which the good news in its fullness is shared with the world. We believe, as members of Christ’s body, that all Christians are called and gifted to serve the world.
This is Christ’s church. There is a place for you here. We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person – questions, complexities and all. Join us as we do God’s work in Christ’s name for the life of the world.
